Recently, the Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Shri Piyush Goyal held a meeting with the representatives of various organizations such as Chairman & CEO Railway Board, Heads of CIL, NTPC, Singareni, MCLSECL, CCL, NCL, WCL, ECL, BCCL, NEC, SCCL. The Railway Ministry seeks growth in to the freight service of railway, and has proposed enhanced cooperation with the Power and Coal bodies of India. Freight already contributes up to 50% of revenue generated by railway, and has witnessed growth most recently by 13.54%. September 2020 accounted for9896.86 crores, compared to last year’s Rs. 8716.29 crores. More than 20 related policies and business development strategies, such as running both specialised parcel &kisan trains coupled with well monitored systems can be highly beneficial for Indian Railways.
