Prime minister Narendra Modi will virtually lay the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rajkot in Gujarat on Thursday. 201 acres of land has been provided by the government for the project, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). It will be constructed at an approximate cost of Rs1,195 crore and is scheduled for completion by mid-2022. A 30-bed AAYUSH block will also be required for the state-of-the-art 750-bed hospital. It will have 125 seats for MBBS and 60 seats for nursing, the statement read.
