Prime Minister Modi on the 74th Independence Day said that there is a need to give a new direction to the overall infrastructure in the country and for this integration of transport like roads, railways, airplanes, and waterways is crucial. He stressed on the need to break the era of “working in silos” in infrastructure. The Union government is working to connect the entire country with multi- modal infrastructure to facilitate smooth transfer of goods, cut travel time, and make the whole transportation system more efficient. “It will be like a new revolution in infrastructure. Now the era of removing the silos in infrastructure has come. For this, a huge initiative has been prepared by the government to connect the entire country with Multi-Modal Connectivity Infrastructure,” he said in his Independence Day speech. The whole infrastructure push of more than ₹110 trillion investments in infrastructure over the next five years is part of prime minister’s vision to make India a $5-trillion economy.
