Agricultural Ministry allowed use of drones for crop management under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)

Under digital initiatives being taken towards the development of Indian Agriculture, the Agricultural ministry got the go ahead by Civil aviation ministry to use of drones for taking data from the fields and help in taking right decisions for farmers under PMKBY. For the first time such a large remote sensing technology based pilot study was conducted so far in the country for crop yield estimation.
